"My current research investigates differences in spawning potential of American shad along the Atlantic coast. The coupling of physical and biological factors that drive habitat characteristics is the basis for another study in the tidal Anacostia River, a tributary of the Potomac River near Washington, DC. In addition to habitat utilization and movement of brown bullhead my research attempts to establish species' utility as a site-specific indicator of contamination. Water quality is a prime component of fish habitat and I am conducting a multi-year investigation to monitor tidal freshwater streams in Somerset County, Maryland, to develop seasonal nutrient trends in these highly cultivated watersheds."
